The Best of 2010

2010 has truly been good to me.  I have been blessed with wonderful opportunities, beautiful clients and encouraging mentors.  I praise God and give Him all the glory for everything that has come my way.  Every inquiry, photo edit, client, everyday spent with my camera is evidence that I am where I belong.  I feel so lucky....SO LUCKY!

I wanted to start closing off the year by showcasing my personal favorites from 2010!

[photo below] the surveillance camera totally makes this photo for me :)
(please excuse the old logo, I don't have the original files with me at this time)
[photos below] Kamee's Workshop
[photo below] Baby Jack!
Last but not least: Jessica Claire's OC Workshop
The most I have learned in a 10 hr period. oodles-of-wonderfulness!

There you go, folks! I have a ton more favorites but I only have a limited amount of files with me at the moment.  2010 will definitely go in the books.  Thank you everyone who has supported, guided and believed in me.  Like I said before, 2011 will bring many surprises!

50mm with a side of 1.2, please :)

"Nifty Fifty" is what I started with...or also known as "Plastic Fantastic" due to it's toyish plastic casing.   The 50mm 1.8 was night and day difference from the other lenses I was using.  Truly amazing!  That little plastic lens was my bff for several months UNTIL I upgraded.  Yup, nothing better than the low f-stop of 1.2, so milky yet sharp.  It's practically always on my camera body for most of my shoots.  I am a prime lens kind of girl so this one hit the jackpot for me.  Also, as mentioned in one of my other A Few of My Favorite Things entry, the bokeh on this baby is amazing!  It's a beast and a softy all in one!  But you'll have to experience it for yourself :)

Check out my teaser from last weeks Anytime photoshoot with these awesome siblings!
This photo was shot with my buddy, 50mm 1.2
ISO 320, f/2.5, 1/640

Hoping to blog more now that I'm done with finals, phew!  Happy Holidays, Everyone! :)

Loafers.

My apologizes for abandoning everyone all of the sudden.  This is how it usually gets at this time of the year, I get bombarded with exams, papers and presentations.  But I am happy to say that it is all over for now (and 2 more quarters to go!! yay!).

One of my favorite things about the holidays season is EXTENDED shopping hours!  The closer it gets to Christmas, the longer stores stay open.  It's great!  Although I love shopping during the holidays, I DO NOT like shopping on Black Friday.  The crowds, the smells, the shoving...I can't stand it.  But this year after our hearty Thanksgiving meal my dad insisted that we make a family day out of it.  I thought, "Okay, I guess" Until he proceeded to tell us that we'd be leaving at 11pm that same evening! What?!  If you know me, you know that my eyes permanently shut around 12midnight.  There is no turning back at that point.  I'm not sure how I was convinced but off we went.  Much of that evening was a blur.  The blistering weather and long lines are vivid in my memory, but not much after that.  Got home around 6am and stomped straight to bed.  Woke up a few hours later with these puppies on my feet.  PENNY LOAFERS! Such a great steal, from what my mom told me!

So turns out that Black Friday did me some good! I can't get enough of these shoes! They match with everything! and so comfy!

Anyways, enough of my babbling! Is Fall Quarter really over?! Time flies so quickly.  But I absolutely love everything about this time of the year, not to mention the fresh start in a few weeks! LOVE!
I can't wait to share with you the great plans and projects I have coming up!

bokeh

If it's one thing I love is a good christmas tree.  Here's one better, a BOKEH christmas tree.  I couldn't be more obsessed with the beautiful bokeh you can get with an SLR.  Magnificent!

bare essentials

Continuing my list of "A Few of My Favorite Things", today's favorite is my bare essentials.

I can't leave my house without these items:
Personal Planner: I know what you all are thinking, "every thing is digital these days!" But there's something about color coding, personal hand writing, crossing out, and post-it inserts.
DSM-IV: you never know when you'll need to diagnosis someone.  Happens all the time.
Phone: need I say more?
Glasses: don't you just love my reflection lol.
Gum: I LOVE gum! And this is the best gum ever! I keep it classy and hide it under my tongue for most the day :)
Mint Carmex:  I don't even think I own lip stick.  This does it for me.

This post is kind of like "What's in your bag?", so it would be nice to see what your bare essentials are! email me a pic! I would love to know :) yvette (at) ettevyphotography.com

A few of my favorite things...

when the dog bites,
when the bee stings,
when I'm feeling sad,
I simply remember my favorite things,
and then I don't feel so bad!

Christmas time is here and it's my favorite time of the year!  I'm going to be one of those old ladies with the christmas lights up by Halloween, christmas tree sweaters in November, and all christmas shopping done by Black Friday.

Anyways, I absolutely love everything about Christmas, but I'm going to use this time to present some of my favorite things that make me feel warm and fuzzy inside :)

#1: my corner of the universe.
The feeling I get when I know I'll end up here after a long, draining day.  Blissful.

Happy Holidays! :)
